2013 BADGERLAND MIATA CLUB CHILI RUN Please mark your calendars for Saturday October 12th, 2013 and plan to meet with old and new members at our chili lunch near Gays Mills Wisconsin in Crawford County. We will meet in Waunakee, WI between 9:30 and 10 AM Saturday morning and travel to the Gays Mills area in Crawford County and have an open air chili lunch provided by your club, during this extended lunch break we want you to visit the apple orchards in the hills around Gays Mills. Be sure to sample apple cider donuts, apple pizza, fresh apple pies, and apple caramel sundaes and other specialties sold at the many orchards on highway 171, high above the Kickapoo River. Dave and Lynn Bonfield will be planning this adventure with help from Jim and Joanne Tuckwood, but if you have ideas or want to help with planning a Badgerland Miata Club event please feel free to give us ideas about how you want to spend your day at our club's fall adventure. More details will follow, but mark the date on your calendars. Update #2 (Aug 14, 2013) The 2013 Chili Run will start at McDonalds 651 West Main Street (Hwy 19) Waunakee, WI 53597 at 10 AM sharp, please be there 15 minutes early for maps of the Kickapoo River Valley and brochures about the orchards above Gays Mills, WI. Waunakee is 6 miles west of the I-39-90-94 interstate at exit 131 north of Madison, and then take Hwy 19 west to the McDonalds on the west edge of Waunakee. Late arrivals should call 608-332-7253 for Dave or 608-358-6275 for Lynn. We will travel 85 miles west to Gays Mills, and the Lions Club Park Shelter on Main Street for a Chili lunch starting at noon, the Tuckwoods and the Carneys should have everything hot and ready to eat if plans work out. We will serve chili with toppings and bottled water, if you want wine or beer, please bring your own alcoholic beverages. If you wish you may bring cookies or a desert to share with your club friends. We want you to eat your lunch and visit the orchards above Gays Mills, or visit the orchards and then have your chili, we will serve chili until all is gone or 2 PM, and we plan to leave Gays Mills and head back east about 2:30 PM. Our plans are not complete for our return trip or our evening meal, but we will have the end location on our website after the Chili Board meets, please give your comments to Bonfields, Tuckwoods, or the Carneys.
Update #3 -final- (September 16, 2013) We plan to leave Gays Mills about 2:30 PM and return to the Madison area about 5-5:30 PM for an evening meal at Benvenuto's Middleton located at 1109 Fourier Drive 53717 connected to the Holiday Inn West near the highway 12 and highway 14 intersection. There is a Badger Football game in Madison starting in the late afternoon, but we will beat the rush. We will have a private room, separate checks, and order off of the regular menu, our club has been to Benvenuto's many times and enjoy their reasonable prices and great selections of beers and wines. Please plan to stay with us for the evening meal, we will get a final count for the restaurant when you check in at McDonalds in the morning, we hope you can join us on October 12th.
