Update #3 (July 4, 2014)
The Mazda Owner Corral Organization (MOCO) has again invited BMC to attend Road America on August 8-9-10, 2014 with the RX-Club of Wisconsin. Don G will host this event for the BMC. Last year we saw the Continental Tire Series and the Grand AM races at Road America on August 10, both outstanding races (see the BMC article for RA 2013). We had a great time as MOCO provided reduced ticket prices, lunch, access to the track, and prizes. For 2014 we will probably be moving the Corral to an excellent location to see the race outside of turn 14 that is next to the concession stand and across from the RA main offices. We will watch the Lemans and Grand Am on Aug 10th. High-lites of the weekend so far are: The Grand AM and American Le Mans are now combined and are known as the Tudor United Sports Car Championship. The new top class will feature both Grand Am Daytona Prototypes as well as P2 cars from the American Le Mans series. The Daytona Prototypes will also no longer be limited to naturally aspirated engines. Ford Racing has an Eco Boost V-6 program for the D.P.T’s, which will make for some interesting competition. There is also some speculation about the all new all electric powered Daytona Prototypes making an appearance. Mazda will be showing up in the new GX class with a small fleet of tube framed diesel powered Mazda 6’s. Even Stuttgart is getting involved in this series, as Porsche will be fielding a 2-car effort in the series. The Continental Sports Car Challenge will also be happening on this weekend so the racing should be great. Put these dates on your calendar and keep watching our website for more details (below).
