Badgerland Miata Club / Moss Motors Picnic

Hosts: Badgerland Members

Update #4 (May 26, 2014)

BADGERLAND PICNIC

WHEN was the last time you put your chair in the water and sat, beverage in hand, and just stared at the water or visited with the friend next to you?

WHEN was the last time you flew a kite, skipped a rock, built a sand sculpture?

Join us for the Sunday, July 6th BMC Picnic! We have rented the enclosed shelter at the Kohler-Andrae State Park. Come early, hike the great trails, visit the Nature Center, or just visit. Lunch will be approximately 12:00. Limited Moss Motor prizes drawn at lunch time.

Following lunch, Don and Linda McCann will lead us on a TSD/Gimmick Rally for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. There will be two check points so members must bring a watch and small calculator to keep track of their time on the route. The average speed will provided in the instructions along with questions to be answered on the route. We are still thinking about scoring, but it will be something like one point for each hundredth of a minute early or late at a check point (time score), and 100 points per correct question answer, and minus 50 points for each wrong answer (gimmick score). The time score will be subtracted from the gimmick score to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. All cars will be given a number to put on their passenger side small fixed window so it can be recorded at the check points.

After the ride, THE other contests will begin:

Sand sculpture:
Bring your plastic pails, shovels, cups, spoons, dull knives, melon ballers, garden trowels, putty knives, etc.
A team must consist of 3-6 people.

Kite Flying: Three catagories...
1. Highest flier (world's record is 12, 471 feet)
2. Classiest commercial kite
3. Most awesome non-commercial kite

Rock skipping:
You may consider bringing your favorite stones from home. This is a pretty sandy beach.

NEED TO BRING: Sunhat, sunglasses, sunblock (optimistic, aren't we), kite, stones, sand stuff, lawn chairs, adult beverages, if desired, AND a salad, dessert or something to share for lunch. THE CLUB WILL PROVIDE SANDWICHES, WATER/SODA, PLATES AND EATING UTENSILS. You will also need $$ for Park entry fee, if you do not have a park sticker.

While we do have electricity, there is no stove or refrigerator. Also, no pets or loud music. The shelter agreement also has a carry in/carry out rule.
