Update #2 (May 11, 2015)
Are You Ready for the Badgerland Miata 25th Anniversary Weekend?
Our July 31-August 2 weekend is almost set. Just a few details remain, but your input is much needed. We need to know if you are coming so reservations can be made, goodie bags prepared,
meals ordered and beverages purchased.
Event Plans
- Friday, July 31st
- The weekend will kick off at the Delafield Brew House at 11:00 AM for lunch
on your own and time to get to know the others who will be driving the kettles afterward. Hotzes are
leading this ride, and they always find twists and turns.
Then, at 5:00PM it's time to regroup at the popular Fox and Hounds Restaurant. Their Friday fish fry is
delicious and included in the registration fee. After that, a moonlight ride to Appleton, with maybe an ice
cream stop on the way. Once there it's time to pick up your personal goodie bag and relax with new or
longtime friends.
- After we've checked in, we'll have time to do a whole bunch of reminiscing and perhaps enjoy an adult beverage or two before resting up for Saturday's activities.
- Saturday, August 1st
- Following breakfast provided by LaQuinta, it's time to scoot over to Bergstrom Automotive.
Those great folks are letting us use their parking lot for games with our cars. Cinealises are lining those
up, and they are professional gamers, so it's sure to be a crazy-fun time! Dennis and Jane Schmidt are
planning one of their exciting rides that always have interesting, unexpected challenges. While some of you
no longer have your Miatas and will be driving OTMs* you will be able to participate in
the "Schmidt Drive", but unfortunately, it is not recommended for the funcana. That will
be a great time to chat. Those of you with your Miatas will be able to participate in both
the funcana and the Schmidt Drive. Lunch will also be at Bergstrom Auto and is included
in registration.
- By 5:00 everyone should be ready for more food. So, we'll caravan over to Liberty Hall in Kimberly for a
family style banquet, also included in the registration fee. People will be recognized, great prizes awarded,
and there will be a few more surprises.
- Sunday, August 2
- Sunday morning you may sleep in, enjoy breakfast at LaQuinta, and then caravan to Neenah again to
tour the Bergstrom-Mahler Glass Museum. They are known worldwide for their collection of glass
paperweights, and also have some glass art pieces dating back to the 1500s. Yes, there is a gift shop too.
The Director also has a Miata, so we may recruit a new member!
Reservations
Reservations at LaQuinta must be made by you before July 10. Call 1-800-642-4239, use Option 1 and let them know you want
the Badgerland Mazda Miata Club rate of $76.50 per night.
**When you make your LaQuinta reservations, be sure to state property #9000 -- that's the Appleton/Fox River Mall
location.
Event Registration:
Driving a Miata isn't necessary for participation in this weekend's events. If one of those
great little cars holds a warm place in your heart, or if club activities got you to places you wouldn't have traveled without it, and you would like to spend time with others of like mind,
